New Furniture Design Success

For 15 years Tauranga businessman Craig Nees imported an American-made kitset wardrobe range. But he's been involved with retailing long enough to know consumers' tastes and styles change.

Mr Nees, managing director of International Merchants NZ (IML), had to find a new product.

With the help of Mount Maunganui-based Locus Research, a new mix-and-match kitset storage system called Getsorted was designed. The innovative system is made up of wardrobes, drawers, shelves and cabinets for the bedroom, lounge and office. Read the rest of the article here. The best tasting medicine

Some chemotherapy patients at Tauranga Hospital are among the first in New Zealand to trial an ice cream that helps combat the side effects of their treatment.
The strawberry ice cream, known as ReCharge, is a phase two clinical trial with 10 patients nationwide signed up for a daily regime of 100 grams. Research manager Rana Reuther says this is the first national trial to be carried out at the hospital's Clinical Trials Unit.
"The Tauranga-based unit will coordinate all the DHBs' research activities and undertake DHB-wide pharmaceutical trials, medical device trials and research projects." She says the newly opened unit is expected to attract doctors and researchers to the area.
