Bringing some local flavour to yia!, Sarah was born and raised in Tauranga, but she brings with her a wealth of international experience from her 15+ years working across New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom.
Having graduated with a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in Public Health, Sarah is passionate about taking a population health approach to improve the health and wellbeing of our people. Her roles have ranged from commissioning and service provision to consultancy services for national, regional and NGO groups. Her current position as Portfolio Manager for Population and Women's Health at the Bay of Plenty District Health Board has allowed Sarah to broaden her reach into supporting the wider community.
Sarah’s soft skills in strategy, management, analytical thinking and innovative thinking have put her in a prime position as one of our guest judges this year to uncover the true potential of our yia! entrants. She believes that getting our people into a curious mindset is a foundational skill to adopt from a young age: “Young people have energy that older people envy - it’s awesome to harness that moment in time with yia!.”
