Saturday 7th April was the official launch of this year’s Young Innovator Awards. To celebrate another year of innovation, YiA teamed up with outdoor cinema Night Owl for the second year running, this time bringing the community Thor: Ragnarok to the epic Mount Drury location.
YiA Project Manager Jill Beedie said it was a lovely evening of great atmosphere and entertainment set among a gorgeous backdrop.
The launch at Night Owl was a good opportunity for the YiA team to connect with parents and students, many of whom are already excited about entering this year’s awards. – Jill
There was a large turnout to the seaside movie screening and recent Marvel Studio’s blockbuster Thor was the perfect film, appealing to kids and adults alike. It’s especially appropriate given that it was directed by renown Kiwi director Taika Waititi.
Now that YiA 2018 has kicked off, students from the 11 Bay of Plenty schools involved are invited to register for this year’s awards, put their innovation hats on and start thinking about their entries.
