Resting on laurels is not a character trait John Illingsworth is familiar with. After 40 years of success holding senior roles in in the fields of Civil Consultancy, Civil Contracting, Management, and Construction for Fletcher Challenge, Hume Industries, and more, most normal people would be ready to put their feet up. Instead at 48, John Illingworth decided to set up not one but five separate companies, including OceaNZ, NZ’s largest paua farm, against all odds.
Another venture, Spartan Construction, recently won the New Zealand Construction award for a joint venture with Meridian to construct the Te Uku Windfarm.
John’s unique combination of skills, experience, drive and determination has led to his recent appointment to the Environment Court in June 2013 as a Deputy Commissioner.
