Bluelab’s cutting edge technology is changing the way the world grows food, allowing people to get the most out of hydroponic growing systems. As the Head of Innovation, Jono reports to CEO Greg Jarvis and is responsible for the company’s cross-functional innovation programme. Innovation at Bluelab spans all facets of the business, including product, service, technology, brand, customer engagement and internal processes. The role uses design-led approaches to unlock customer insight in order to drive new ideas and initiatives. Jono applies innovation delivery while building and inspiring an innovation and design-led culture.
Jono holds a number of patents and has been awarded with numerous design and innovation awards, including a prestigious International RedDot Design Award, iF Design Award, Gold New Zealand Best Design Award and Australian Good Design Award.
Prior to joining Bluelab, Jono was Research Director at leading Product Development and Innovation firm, Locus Research and was responsible for directing cross-functional product developments in healthcare, medical device, marine, ag-tech and consumer sectors.
Jono cut his teeth developing neonatal transportation protection devices at Lightweight Medical, a design firm in Glasgow. Following this he moved to London with Onzo – a fast growing technology start-up developing energy monitoring and visualisation devices for utility customers.
Jono earned a first class Bachelor of Science degree in Product Design at Brunel University, West London, graduating at the time with the highest scoring major design project ever.
